¡Hola!
I'm relatively new around here and just wanted to get a post up so you'd know I exist. My name is Linda, I'm 27, and I'm an infertility survivor. I'm sure I'll get more into that, but if it's possible to sum up the enormous amount of pain and . . . well, pain that surrounds infertility, I could say that our journey went a little something like this:
1. Spend months contemplating throwing away the birth control pills. Debate whether or not we're ready to have a child~financially and emotionally. Contemplate some more. A tad more debate.
2. Finally thrown them away.
3. Get nervous immediately.
4. Thrill husband with massive amounts of sex~probably more sex than we had had in our entire marriage thus far.
5. Become disappointed when month after month we continue, babyless.
6. Have a miserable 3 month long cycle.
7. Finally go to the doctor and get an OB referral.
8. Do 6 or 7 cycles with clomid and those stupid little ovulation predictor kits.
9. Request a referral to a RE.
10. Sink deeper and deeper into depression as bad news gets piled on top of bad news. Not only do I not ovulate predictably or maybe at all, my husband has crappy morphology, a.k.a. quasimodo sperm. You know, funny shaped heads, extra tails and such. But at least he has a lot of them.
11. Do 3 IUI cycles before being told that IVF with ICSI is the only thing that will work for us.
12. Go through a summer of canceled IVFs due to: poor ovarian response, cysts, travel plans.
13. Finally do a complete cycle in the fall of 2003 which results in our 2 beautiful daughters: L and E.
So, yes, my story has a happy ending so far, but, man, did it suck.
Welcome to the blogging wirld, Linda! I loved your iparenting diaries, and I am so happy you decided to blog! :-)
