Today I ate two pieces of Costco cake. It was in the break room for a birthday. I ate a small (to me - this probably means normal sized to you) piece when I first saw it and then another one at the end of the day. At first I was all "OH NO I HAVE RUINED EVERYTHING" but then I thought, "You know what? I am trying to eat mindfully and choose foods that are nutrient dense and good for me, but if I can't eat the occasional piece or two of cake without guilty feelings, then I am FAILING."
What I DON'T want to do is mindlessly eat crap every day without really enjoying it. But cake? Costco cake? With buttercream frosting? I ENJOYED THE HELL OUT OF IT. And then I went back to my regular eating. I think this is probably the healthiest my attitude toward cake has ever been.
